But I did get a $5 off coupon in the mail from Petco.  What does that say about PetsMart’s [not] Grand Opening?  Unlike their neighbor Aldi, they seem to be keeping this on the down low.  Not good.  Because they have to compete against (going west to east) WalMart, Meijer, Dominick’s, Target, and Petco. Seems this would justify at least having a 15ft high inflateable gorilla in the parking lot, you know? ...

So, have you been to Sonic lately?!  Wow, it’s only been open less than 2 months, but it appears that Sonic has established a firm belly-hold on the Oswego and Montgomery area residents!  It seems that most afternoon and evenings the stalls are filled, the drive-thru is humming, and there is a queue of cars in the Menard’s parking lot.  Personally, I’ve visited 3 times, twice for my beloved foot-long chili dog...

Did you miss it? ALDI opened Thursday in Oswego, at the corner of U.S. 34 and Fifth St., across from Wal Mart.  With over 1,400 items, it offers another alternative to the “big box” stores lining the adjoining street.  ALDI is a unique store, where it looks to save customers money by encouraging the use of recyclable bags and smarter shopping cart use by charging for bags and instituting a 25-cent deposit...

Last year, Circuit City opened their first location in Oswego.  It is now one of 14 stores in Illinois that will be closed as part of the company’s move to return to profitability.  In total, 155 stores nationwide are to be closed by the Richmond, VA-based electronics store.

The Professional Oswego Women, a sub-committee of the Oswego Chamber of Commerce, will be meeting on Wednesday, September 10th from 6-8pm at the Fox Bend Banquet Tent in Oswego.  It is sponsored by the Oswegoland Park District, with dinner served and a cash bar available. The Chipolte Mexican Grill will open in Oswego at 2530 Rte 34 on Thursday, August 28th.  As an introduction, the restaurant will host an open house on August 27th from 11am to 7pm, offering a free burrito or burrito bowl plus soft drink.  Normal store hours will be 11am to 10pm daily.
