The Oswego Police Department has learned that a fundraising organization based in Elmhurst Illinois is currently misrepresenting to area businesses that they are raising funds on behalf of Police in Kendall County. This organization, Illinois Council of Police (ICOPS), has been contacting area businesses by phone soliciting money for its advertising campaign. There is no guarantee that funds donated to this organization will benefit the local community. The Oswego Police Department was not advised in advance of the campaign by ICOPS and we do not condone their efforts. There are currently no fundraising efforts being conducted by the Oswego Police Department. Furthermore, the Oswego Police do not solicit funds over the phone.
