Informational Meetings on Oswego School District

A series of informational meetings for parents, teachers and residents will be held at Oswego East High School, beginning Oct. 15th.

Entitled “District 101”, these are a series of meeting open to the public this fall.  Kristine Liptrot, director of communications for the School District, said parents, teachers, residents and even those thinking about a run for the Board of Education are encouraged to join staff members in discussing topics ranging from curriculum to food service to finance.  Several School Board seats will be open in the spring, Liptrot noted. She said residents and potential board members looking to truly understand why the district does what it does will find all of their answers at "District 101."

Sessions, scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the high school, will cover the following topics:

• Oct. 15 — District organizational structure and governance; and curriculum, testing and No Child Left Behind Legislation.

• Oct. 29 — School finance and budgeting; planning; construction; transportation; food service.

• Nov. 12 — Personnel and human resources; student services; boundaries; the function of the Board of Education.

The sessions will be held at Oswego East High School, 1525 Harvey Road, beginning Oct. 15.  For information, call the office of communications at (630) 636-3660.
